About this Unit:
Owing to the strength of the Deaf community in this area, and the proximity of Gallaudet University, The Washington D.C. area has had congregrations of Deaf members for decades. Early graduates of the Utah School for the Deaf made their way to Gallaudet College for school; as early as the 1930s, Gallaudet LDS students both joined with members of the old Washington D.C. Ward as well as on their own, even meeting together on the Capitol steps for services.
